Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the upcoming state Budget, set to be unveiled this week, will outline the government’s economic roadmap for the next five years. The budget session commenced on Monday, marking the first budget presentation since the BJP-led alliance secured power for the third consecutive term.
Scheduled for tabling on July 10 by Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, the Budget aims to extend beyond yearly financial allocations. CM Sarma highlighted that it will encapsulate the commitments outlined in the alliance’s election manifesto, offering a strategic vision for Assam’s sustained development.
Focusing on key sectors such as agriculture, industrial expansion, MSMEs, self-help groups, employment generation, and renewable energy, the Budget is poised to introduce initiatives fostering investment, job creation, and the fortification of Assam’s economic landscape. The government’s objective is to expedite progress across various domains while ensuring equitable growth for both urban and rural communities.
In response to queries regarding potential collaborations among opposition parties, CM Sarma expressed confidence in the ruling coalition’s ability to deliver on its mandate of 102 seats. Emphasizing a commitment to governance and development, he dismissed concerns about political alliances, affirming a dedication to serving the people until approximately 2028. Asserting the BJP’s enduring influence in Assam’s political arena, CM Sarma projected a sustained dominance for the party in the state’s future.
