Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed the NDA government’s dedication to recovering encroached land in the state. The government has initiated on-ground operations to combat illegal land occupation. Sarma emphasized the commitment to reclaiming more than 1250 sq km of encroached land in Assam under NDA 3.0.
The Chief Minister shared a video showcasing the demolition of structures and clearing of debris in a rural hilly area by yellow JCB backhoe loaders. Sarma has been vocal about intensifying eviction and land recovery efforts in Assam. He has pledged to free nearly 5 lakh bighas of land from encroachment during the new term of the NDA government.
Sarma also reiterated the government’s promise to implement the Uniform Civil Code in Assam. He assured that all commitments made in the party’s election manifesto, including the UCC, would be fulfilled. The proposed UCC aims to establish a uniform legal framework for all citizens, regardless of religion, governing aspects like marriage, divorce, inheritance, and adoption.
