Speaking to the press, Sarma acknowledged the voluntary choice of many Muslims in Assam to refrain from sacrificing cows during the upcoming festival, showing respect for the sentiments of the Hindu community. He urged individuals planning animal sacrifices to avoid Hindu-majority areas during the festivities, emphasizing that legal action would be taken for any violations.
The Chief Minister expressed gratitude for the support of more than 800 Eidgah Committees in Assam in favor of restricting cow slaughter before Eid-ul-Zuha. Sarma emphasized that honoring the beliefs of the majority community would significantly contribute to maintaining peace and stability in the state.
