Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president, Gaurav Gogoi, extended New Year greetings to the people of Assam and revealed five key promises the party aims to fulfill if elected. Gogoi emphasized the party’s focus on enhancing education and healthcare to elevate Assam’s status among top-performing states in these sectors. Additionally, he highlighted the party’s commitment to modernizing government operations for improved efficiency.
The Congress leader stressed the importance of balanced economic development across Assam, aiming to extend growth beyond urban areas to rural regions, thereby creating more livelihood opportunities. Addressing concerns about law and order, Gogoi criticized the current state of affairs and pledged to revamp the police system to ensure fair law enforcement, alleging bias under the current regime.
Youth empowerment emerged as a significant aspect of the Congress’ agenda, with a focus on combating drug abuse, fostering skill development, and promoting sports culture among the youth. Gogoi also expressed intentions to complete pending projects and reforms promised by the BJP government to ensure timely execution. Moreover, he announced the commencement of the candidate application process for aspiring Congress members.
In a bid to uphold electoral integrity, Gogoi urged vigilance against fraudulent voting practices, particularly individuals voting in Assam while registered in other states. He emphasized the need for observers to monitor such discrepancies, citing concerns raised over the draft electoral rolls.
