Assam Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar announced that the party has begun an internal review to understand the reasons behind their recent electoral loss. Observers appointed by the party are gathering feedback from leaders and workers at the constituency level to analyze the performance of candidates.
Sikdar mentioned that ongoing discussions within the party aim to identify factors contributing to the electoral setback and evaluate candidate performance across different constituencies. The Congress party has dispatched observers to various constituencies to investigate the election process thoroughly.
The appointed observers are engaging with Congress workers, office-bearers, and local leaders to gather insights on campaign management, candidate expectations, voter support, and reasons for both support and lack of support. Detailed reports based on this feedback will be compiled and discussed within the party organization.
Sikdar emphasized the importance of waiting for the completion of the review process before drawing any conclusions. He highlighted the need for comprehensive information and reports to understand the election outcome properly. The party leadership plans to conduct internal discussions post the review to address shortcomings and implement corrective measures for the future.
The Congress party faced a significant defeat in the recent Assembly elections, securing only 19 seats, marking its lowest-ever tally in Assam.
