Assam continues to face severe flooding, impacting more than 3.1 lakh individuals across 11 districts. Rescue operations are in full swing in the most affected areas as per official reports. The flood has submerged 758 villages and damaged 14,411.267 hectares of crops, leading to concerns about agricultural losses.
Authorities have established 52 relief camps where 12,720 displaced individuals are currently housed. Tragically, one flood-related fatality has been reported in Charaideo district. Rescue teams have successfully evacuated 9,160 people using boats from flooded areas.
In Guwahati, urban flooding persists, affecting various localities in Kamrup (Metro) like Satgaon, Sawkuchi, and others. Waterlogging also continues in North Guwahati’s wards. While no new landslides were reported on Tuesday, incidents occurred in parts of Kamrup (Metro) the previous day.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed teams in Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat districts, with State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams also aiding in rescue efforts. Rivers like Brahmaputra and others are flowing above danger levels, hinting at a worsening flood scenario.
