Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya recently visited the Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University’s permanent campus in Chabua, Dibrugarh district. He inspected the construction progress and urged officials to accelerate the work for timely completion. The Governor highlighted that finishing the campus swiftly would allow the university to enhance its academic offerings and become a leading sports education institution in the country.
Acharya also examined the planned amenities at the campus, particularly emphasizing the need for a dedicated Yoga center. He stressed the significance of sports and wellness facilities in fostering students’ overall development. The Governor instructed university authorities to closely collaborate with the Public Works Department and Dibrugarh district administration to ensure the project’s on-time delivery.
Furthermore, during a review meeting at the university’s city campus, the Governor, along with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Hirendra Nath Sarma, discussed the institution’s academic advancements. They focused on aligning the university’s programs with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 objectives. The Governor proposed the inclusion of a “Professor of Practice” concept to connect classroom learning with practical expertise, involving professionals from diverse fields.
In line with preserving traditional knowledge and promoting cultural heritage, the university has introduced innovative courses such as elephant taming, training, and indigenous games. These initiatives aim to blend traditional practices with modern sports education, as highlighted by the Vice-Chancellor during the meeting.
