Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika expressed optimism on Monday as early counting trends indicated the BJP’s path to forming the government. Hazarika, speaking at a counting center in Morigaon, attributed the party’s lead to the development work under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership.
He highlighted the BJP’s significant margins in the Morigaon and Jagiroad Assembly constituencies during the initial rounds of counting. Hazarika emphasized the government’s dedication to the people, stating that the BJP is poised to return to power in the state.
As counting continues across Assam under tight security, the BJP-led NDA is leading in 85 Assembly seats, while the Congress-led opposition alliance is ahead in 30 constituencies. The Assembly elections, held on April 9 with a high voter turnout of 85.96%, featured 722 candidates, including 59 women contenders.
