Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika expressed concerns about “anti-development forces” causing disruptions in the state and damaging its reputation. He highlighted attempts to hinder investment opportunities and progress in Assam, attributing these actions to dissatisfaction with the state’s economic advancements. Hazarika emphasized that despite reports of the India-Japan summit relocating to New Delhi, it should not reflect negatively on Assam’s capabilities to host international events.
Certain individuals and groups are reportedly impeding Assam’s growth, aiming to create unrest and negativity. Hazarika underscored the importance of safeguarding the state’s development trajectory and fostering investor confidence. He noted Assam’s attractiveness for foreign investments, particularly in sectors like semiconductors, electronics manufacturing, and advanced technology, due to policy reforms and investment promotion efforts.
The Minister urged unity across society to protect Assam’s progress and cautioned against actions that could jeopardize the state’s future prospects. Reports indicated a potential change in the venue for the India-Japan summit, with logistical reasons cited for the shift. The summit, focusing on trade, investment, infrastructure, economic security, and strategic cooperation, is anticipated to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
