The Assam Rifles marked the New Year with enthusiasm in Manipur villages near the India-Myanmar border. Celebrations at Sehlon, Kovang, and Kachinbung villages in Chandel district aimed to strengthen bonds with local communities. Friendly volleyball matches between the Assam Rifles team and local youth were a highlight, promoting sportsmanship and unity.
The event, attended by around 250 locals and 45 Assam Rifles officials and troops, emphasized camaraderie. Besides sports, the celebration included distributing sweets and gifts to younger community members. The festive atmosphere, with refreshments for all, fostered warmth and harmony, reinforcing trust and cooperation in the border region.
In Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, the Indian Army also engaged in New Year outreach activities. Villagers of Bene Village participated in sports and community interactions organized by army personnel. Similarly, the Red Shield Division of the Indian Army celebrated the New Year with children from the Nirasoi Shishu Bhawan orphanage in Assam’s Jorhat district, showcasing a commitment to society.
