An Assam Rifles Havildar lost his life, and four other jawans sustained injuries in Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district due to an explosion from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The incident occurred when the IED struck a vehicle within an Assam Rifles convoy near Sukhovi. The deceased, Havildar Mohd Iqbal, was from the Assam Rifles training center, while the injured personnel were promptly taken to a government hospital for treatment.
Nagaland’s Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and the Director General of Assam Rifles strongly denounced the attack and promised severe action against the perpetrators. Security forces initiated a thorough search operation in the area post the blast to apprehend those responsible. The exact cause and nature of the explosion are yet to be officially confirmed, with investigations ongoing to determine if the explosive device was remotely detonated.
In response to the incident, Nagaland’s Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister expressed their condemnation and assured that the culprits would be identified and face justice. Assam Rifles also paid tribute to the fallen soldier and extended condolences to his family. This tragic event follows a similar attack in Manipur eight days prior, where two Assam Rifles personnel were killed in an ambush, prompting joint operations to locate the assailants.
