In Mizoram, Assam Rifles conducted two significant operations resulting in the seizure of drugs and gold worth approximately Rs 6.75 crore. The operations led to the arrest of three smugglers. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the troops, in collaboration with state police, intercepted a vehicle in the Zokhawthar area of Champhai district suspected of carrying contraband.
During the operation, 2.201 kg of methamphetamine tablets, valued at around Rs 6.60 crore, were found in the vehicle. Two smugglers involved in narcotics transportation were apprehended. In a separate operation in the Chawnpui area of Aizawl district, Assam Rifles, along with the Customs Preventive Force, seized 104 grams of 22-carat gold, valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh, and arrested an individual attempting to deliver the contraband.
The recovered drugs and gold, along with the apprehended individuals, were handed over to the respective authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings. These successful operations underscore Assam Rifles’ efforts to combat illegal smuggling activities and maintain security in Mizoram.
