Assam Rifles seized drugs valued at over Rs 7.28 crore in Mizoram and recovered a significant amount of explosive materials in Manipur through separate operations. In Mizoram, the operation led to the interception of 2.2 kg of Methamphetamine tablets, worth Rs 6.6 crore, from a person riding a Kenbo bike in Champhai district. The individual, Lalhmangaihzuala, was apprehended, and the contraband was handed over for further investigation.

In another operation in the same district, Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle in Zote areas, recovering 80.8 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs 68.25 lakh. The drug peddler, Lal Thanpuia, was apprehended, and both the narcotics and vehicle were handed over for legal action. These operations highlight Assam Rifles’ commitment to combating smuggling and eradicating the drug menace in Mizoram.

Moving to Manipur, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Manipur Police, discovered a large quantity of explosives in Pherzawl District. The recovery included 30 gelatin sticks, 20 detonators, safety fuze, flexible wire, a Bolero vehicle, and around Rs one lakh cash. These items are typically used in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) for causing significant damage. Assam Rifles’ efforts aim to maintain peace and stability in the region, especially with Republic Day celebrations approaching.

The force, in coordination with local authorities, continues to work towards peace in Jiribam District, ensuring that miscreants disrupting peace are held accountable. The community has shown appreciation for the efforts of Assam Rifles in upholding peace in the region.
