The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Mizoram Police and the Excise and Narcotics Department, confiscated heroin valued at over Rs 1.31 crore in Mizoram. Six drug peddlers, including three women, were apprehended in the operations. Acting on specific intelligence, the joint teams conducted targeted raids in Champhai and Aizawl districts.
During the operations, a significant amount of heroin was seized, with an estimated market value of Rs 65.40 lakh. The contraband, suspects, and vehicles were handed over to the authorities for further investigation. The successful operations highlight the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking networks in Mizoram and protect border communities.
Assam Rifles, along with law enforcement agencies, recovered narcotics worth approximately Rs 18.60 lakh in another operation. The seized drugs were suspected to have been smuggled from Myanmar for distribution in Aizawl and other regions. These actions demonstrate the strong coordination between Assam Rifles and other agencies in tackling narco-trafficking activities.
On the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Assam Rifles organized an awareness program at Holy Cross School to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The event aimed to promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle and received positive feedback from school authorities and participants.
