The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, confiscated heroin worth over Rs 1.34 crore in Mizoram and detained three suspected drug peddlers. Acting on specific intelligence, the joint team intercepted two individuals in the Zote area of Champhai district, leading to the recovery of 141.42 grams of heroin valued at around Rs 1.06 crore.
In a separate operation in the Bawngkawn area of Aizawl district, Assam Rifles personnel, based on reliable information, seized approximately 38 grams of heroin worth Rs 28.5 lakh. Lalvunga, a resident of Champhai district, was apprehended during this operation. The seized heroin and the arrested individuals were handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department for further investigation.
The successful operations underscore the commitment and coordination between the Assam Rifles and other agencies in combating drug trafficking in Mizoram. The force continues its efforts to ensure peace, security, and stability in the region, intensifying measures to combat smuggling activities and the trafficking of narcotics.
