The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Customs Department, conducted a successful operation in Tripura’s Khowai district, seizing a significant quantity of methamphetamine tablets worth over Rs 5 crore. The joint team intercepted a vehicle carrying narcotics in the Mungiakami area based on specific intelligence inputs. Despite the driver fleeing upon noticing security personnel, around 50,000 methamphetamine tablets were recovered from the abandoned vehicle.

The seized narcotics and the vehicle have been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal action. This operation highlights the commitment of the Assam Rifles and the Customs Department in combating narcotics trafficking in the Northeast region. The unwavering efforts aim to ensure peace and security by curbing illegal drug activities.

In Mizoram, the Assam Rifles engaged in interaction programs with various local authorities to strengthen civil-military cooperation and promote peace in border areas. Participants discussed crucial issues such as border security, measures to combat drug trafficking, public welfare, and enhancing civil-military coordination for community development. These initiatives provide a platform for mutual understanding and cooperation along the India-Myanmar border.

Furthermore, in Manipur, the Assam Rifles, in partnership with the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), organized a Training-cum-Awareness Programme in Imphal East district. The program, aligned with the global theme of addressing the world drug problem, aimed to equip security personnel with advanced skills to tackle drug trafficking effectively. Through technical sessions and legal framework training, participants were prepared to combat the evolving narcotics scenario in Manipur.

The collaborative efforts between specialized narcotics intelligence agencies and security forces have significantly enhanced coordination to combat drug trafficking in the region. Nearly 220 personnel from the Indian Army and the Assam Rifles participated in the training program, emphasizing the collective capability to dismantle drug networks and assist law enforcement agencies effectively.
