A headmaster from a government school in Assam’s Dhubri district, Shahjahan Hussain Sheikh, has been taken into custody for reportedly sexually assaulting a woman and pressuring her into an illicit relationship. The victim lodged a complaint accusing Sheikh of exploiting her sexually and coercing her into the relationship near the school premises where he worked. Legal action was initiated by the police after the victim filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Sheikh under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The accused was presented before the Dhubri District Court following his arrest, and the police are conducting a thorough investigation based on the victim’s statement and available evidence. The case has raised concerns among local residents, especially parents, as Sheikh was in charge of a school responsible for the well-being of young students. Witnesses are providing statements, and additional evidence is being gathered to establish the sequence of events. Authorities have clarified that the investigation is in its early stages, and all legal procedures will be followed before the final report is submitted to the court.
