An Assistant Sub-Inspector named Daulat Khan was fatally shot in a sniper attack at the Badan police post in Wara Mamond tehsil of Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The assailants behind the attack remain unidentified, as reported by local media. Following the incident, the police initiated a search operation in the area to apprehend the suspects.

In recent weeks, there have been multiple attacks on security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Just days before this incident, on February 26, four police officers lost their lives and two others were injured in an attack on an Ababeel police patrol in the Nawa Kalay area of Khar Tehsil, Bajaur. Additionally, on February 14, Additional Station House Officer Gul Mano Din was killed in an armed assault at the Wara Mamond Police Station.

A report from an Islamabad-based think tank highlighted a 30% increase in combat-related fatalities in Pakistan during February. The rise was attributed to a surge in suicide attacks across the country. According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), February saw a total of 470 deaths and 333 injuries, including civilians, security personnel, and militants. The data revealed a significant escalation in casualties compared to the previous month, with notable increases in deaths among security forces, civilians, and militants.
