Harmanjot Singh, representing Services Sports Control Board (SSCB), won the men’s individual 10km event with a time of 30:33 at the 60th National Cross Country Championships in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Athletes from Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) excelled in various categories, with Nandani Gupta of RSPB winning the women’s individual 10km event in 35:42.28.
In other results, Uttar Pradesh claimed the men’s U20 team title with 22 points, while Maharashtra secured the women’s U20 trophy with 21 points. A total of 35 teams, including state units, participated in the championships, with 732 athletes, including 328 female runners, competing in the event.
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) will select senior and junior (U20) athletes for the upcoming Asian Cross Country Championships in Japan. AFI president Bahadur Singh Sagoo mentioned that the top four runners in each senior and junior category will be chosen for the Indian team based on their performance at the national cross-country championships.
Results from the championships included Harmanjot Singh (SSCB) winning the men’s 10km individual event, and Railway Sports Promotion Board securing the team title. In the women’s 10km individual event, Nandani Gupta (Railway) emerged victorious, with Railway Sports Promotion Board also winning the team title.
