Atletico Mineiro has finalized a deal to acquire former Atletico Madrid defender Renan Lodi on a free transfer, as confirmed by the Brazilian Serie A club. Lodi, who boasts 19 Brazil caps, will soon undergo medical tests in Belo Horizonte before sealing a five-year contract with Atletico Mineiro.
The official announcement of Lodi’s signing will occur post the completion and approval of his medical examinations, according to a statement on Atletico Mineiro’s website. The 27-year-old left Al-Hilal in September and has had stints at clubs like Nottingham Forest, Marseille, and Atletico Paranaense.
In a separate transfer development, Argentinos Juniors are currently in discussions with veteran midfielder Enzo Perez for a potential free transfer. Perez, whose contract with River Plate expires on December 31, is not in the future plans of manager Marcelo Gallardo. Argentinos Juniors is exploring a performance-based contract with the 39-year-old, as confirmed by sporting director Raul Sanzotti.
