Attacks on Pakistani forces in Balochistan’s Mastung district persisted for the second consecutive day, resulting in the death of one paramilitary officer and injuries to six others. An armed group targeted Pakistani personnel in the Dasht region of Mastung, destroying two vehicles and reportedly seizing weapons from the fallen personnel. The anti-terrorism force confirmed the death of Rehmatullah Khilji and injuries to six other personnel during the assault.
Clashes commenced after Pakistani forces cordoned off parts of the Kambela area and conducted an operation, leading to armed men attacking troops and exchanges of gunfire. Residents reported heavy firing and explosions near a forces’ camp in Kund Masuri, where the fighting endured for nearly an hour. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for killing 29 Pakistani military personnel in 14 attacks between April 3 and 14 in various parts of Balochistan province.
The BLA spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, stated that the group carried out operations in multiple regions, targeting military convoys, checkpoints, and supply lines. The attacks involved ambushes, Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), and what was referred to as ‘drone strikes’. Highways and checkposts were reportedly taken under “full control” by the BLA during some operations, with 13 Levies and police personnel being detained and subsequently released. The BLA emphasized that these recent operations signify a “decisive phase” in the defense of the Baloch motherland.
