Highlighting the strong friendship and reliable partnership between India and Australia, Green pointed out the significant results already achieved in business through economic cooperation and trade agreements. He emphasized the importance of trust and partnership in strengthening bilateral ties, citing the Free Trade Agreement signed between the two countries as a testament to the positive outcomes of their collaboration. The upgrade of the bilateral relationship from ‘Strategic Partnership’ to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2020 reflects the deepening ties between India and Australia, based on shared values and a mutual vision for a peaceful and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
The economic relationship between India and Australia has witnessed substantial growth in recent years, with the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (IndAUS ECTA) coming into effect in December 2022. Both nations have engaged in extensive negotiations on the India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), further enhancing their economic engagement and cooperation.
