Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry created history by becoming the first female cricketer from Australia to play 350 international matches. This milestone was achieved during the final T20I against India at Adelaide Oval.
Perry’s 350 international matches mark her 20th year at the highest level of cricket. She now holds the record for the most international matches played by an Australian woman. The only two women ahead of her are India’s Harmanpreet Kaur with 357 matches and New Zealand’s Suzie Bates with 355.
Following Perry, Australia’s most-capped players include Alyssa Healy with 295 appearances and Alex Blackwell with 252 appearances. Healy has announced her retirement after the upcoming day-night Test against India on March 6, while Perry remains focused on contributing to the team without a set timeline for her future in international cricket.
Perry expressed her commitment to the team’s success, stating that as long as she finds fulfillment in contributing, she wishes to continue playing. The ongoing T20 World Cup remains a focus for Megan Schutt, while Perry remains open-ended about her future plans in international cricket.
In the recent series against India, Australia faced a defeat in the first match but made a strong comeback in the second match at Manuka Oval. The series is currently tied at 1-1, with both teams showcasing competitive performances on the field.
