Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong is set to join the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New Delhi on Monday. Wong will also engage in bilateral discussions with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar. Emphasizing the importance of the Quad, Wong described it as a crucial partnership amid global uncertainties.
Highlighting the strategic significance of the Quad, Wong emphasized the collaboration among Australia, India, Japan, and the United States. The focus of the Quad includes enhancing cooperation in areas such as maritime security, resilient supply chains, critical minerals, infrastructure development, disaster relief, and emerging technologies.
During her visit, Wong will partake in the 17th Australia-India Foreign Ministers’ Framework Dialogue with EAM Jaishankar. She underscored the deepening ties between Australia and India, highlighting the partnership’s growing importance in various sectors.
Wong, along with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, will participate in the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. The meeting aims to advance cooperation across priority areas, review ongoing initiatives, and discuss recent developments in the Indo-Pacific region and other mutual concerns.
