Tickets for the season-opening Formula One Australian Grand Prix have sold out in record time, announced the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and the government of Victoria. The tickets for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are fully exhausted, marking the earliest three-day sellout in the event’s history. The 2026 Formula One season will kick off with practice sessions on Friday, followed by more practice and qualifying on Saturday, and the race on Sunday.
Organizers mentioned that tickets are still available for Thursday, where reigning world champion Lando Norris and his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri are scheduled to appear at a fan event. In 2025, the Australian Grand Prix attracted over 465,000 attendees, making it the second-most attended race weekend of the Formula One season. Victoria’s Minister for Tourism, Sport, and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, highlighted that the quick sellout reflects the global appeal of the Australian Grand Prix.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts favorable weather conditions for the race on Sunday in Melbourne, with no rain expected and a maximum temperature of 26 degrees Celsius. The Australian Grand Prix this weekend marks the beginning of a 24-round calendar. McLaren’s reigning champions, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, are gearing up for the event, with Piastri aiming to secure the first classified podium for an Australian driver since 1985. Additionally, Cadillac will make their debut this weekend, expanding the grid to 11 teams and 22 cars, with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez returning after missing the 2025 season.
