India is increasingly benefiting from American companies’ efforts to reduce reliance on China, according to US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) President Mukesh Aghi. Aghi highlighted Apple’s move to manufacture most of the iPhone 17 and plan for the 18th version in India.
The economic ties between India and the US are strengthening, with a focus on enhancing collaboration in critical and emerging technologies. Aghi emphasized the growth of Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India, with around 2,800 centers, a majority of which are operated by US companies.
Despite concerns such as tariffs and trade negotiations, Aghi remains optimistic about the positive trajectory of the India-US relationship. He also noted the significant contribution of the Indian-American community to strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in technology and the corporate sector.
USISPF Chairman John T. Chambers urged both countries to move towards transformational cooperation beyond incremental gains. Chambers highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping the future partnership, emphasizing the need for innovative collaboration between the two democracies.
