In response to the tragic Malviya Nagar fire that claimed 21 lives, authorities are conducting a thorough survey and enforcement operation in the Hauz Rani area of South Delhi. The Revenue Department is inspecting hotels and commercial establishments to ensure compliance with safety, licensing, and building regulations. Mohammad Shamim from the Revenue Department mentioned that they are scrutinizing hotels for commercial activities, proper licensing, and adherence to construction norms.
A detailed report on the inspections is expected to be submitted by the end of the day, with action planned against buildings found breaching construction limits. Lavkesh Bajaj, the owner of the hotel where the fire occurred, has been arrested by the Delhi Police. The fire at Flourish Stay Bed and Breakfast in Hauz Rani resulted in significant loss of life and injuries, prompting investigations into safety violations and regulatory oversights.
Authorities are looking into potential negligence and safety violations that may have contributed to the severity of the incident. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has pledged strict action against those accountable, with repercussions anticipated within a week. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, focusing on possible safety regulation breaches and negligence leading to casualties.
DCP (South Delhi) Anant Mittal reported that out of the 49 individuals hospitalized after the fire, 21 have sadly passed away, including foreign nationals. The Delhi Fire Service confirmed the fire at Hotel Flourish Stays, impacting multiple floors and resulting in casualties.
