Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district took down three illegal shops owned by a drug peddler as part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign. The shops, allegedly belonging to Jahangir Ahmed Bhat, were demolished in Chinigam area of Frisal in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district. These structures were built without the required ‘Change of Land Use’ permission on land measuring one kanal and 13 marlas falling under Survey No. 196 Min.
The operation, conducted early in the morning, was a joint effort by police and revenue authorities under the supervision of Tehsildar Frisal and DSP Operations HatiPora. This move signifies the administration’s strong commitment to dismantling the financial and logistical networks supporting drug peddling and narcotics trade in the region. Strict actions against drug smugglers, illegal constructions related to narcotics activities, and other individuals involved in the drug ecosystem will persist across the district.
As part of the 100-day-long ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan’, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced further punitive measures against drug offenders, including the revocation of licenses, passports, Aadhaar cards, and seizure of properties acquired through drug-related proceeds. The LG has been actively participating in anti-drug ‘Padyatra’ events in various districts to raise public awareness and encourage collective participation in the anti-drug campaign, aiming to safeguard the youth of J&K from drug addiction and abuse.
