Auto component manufacturers within the Samvardhana Motherson International Limited group have stated that their operations in Noida have not been significantly impacted by recent worker protests related to wage issues. Despite incidents of violence and police involvement in parts of Noida, Motherson Sumi Wiring India Limited and Samvardhana Motherson Automotive Systems Group confirmed that their business operations have not faced any major disruptions.

The companies clarified that the protests stemmed from misinformation regarding wage adjustments and emphasized that their workforce was not actively participating in the unrest. They described the situation as a broader labor concern affecting various industries in Noida and other cities due to false information being circulated about wage revisions.

Although protests occurred near the group’s facilities in Sector 62 and Sector 84, key industrial areas in Noida, the companies assured that their operations were running normally. While some units might temporarily close as a precautionary measure, the companies did not confirm direct employee involvement in the protests.

“Our operations are in compliance with all relevant regulations, and there has been no significant impact on the company. The safety of our employees is our utmost priority, and we are collaborating with authorities to restore normalcy promptly,” the companies stated.

Amid the unrest, the Uttar Pradesh Government announced a temporary increase in minimum wages for workers in various categories, effective from April 1, 2026. The revised wages will particularly benefit unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers, with the highest increment of 21% for those in Noida and Ghaziabad. Workers in other municipal corporation areas will also receive a nearly 15% raise.

The state government clarified that the claims circulating on social media about a uniform minimum wage of Rs 20,000 were false, emphasizing that no such statewide wage standard had been established. The revised interim wages will encompass both basic pay and dearness allowance, with variations based on district categories.
