An autorickshaw driver in Hyderabad, Mohammad Zaheer, displayed exceptional courage by using his vehicle to apprehend a criminal attempting to escape after snatching a woman’s gold chain. The incident took place in the Begum Bazaar Jinsi Chowrasta area. Zaheer bravely confronted the chain snatcher, identified as Mohammad Sohail, despite the attacker’s resistance.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar recognized Zaheer’s bravery and awarded him with a cash prize and commendation letter. CCTV footage of the incident was shared on social media by the Police Commissioner. Sohail, the accused, is known as a rowdy sheeter with a criminal record.
The chain snatching incident occurred when the criminal tried to rob Manju Omlata of her gold chain while she was out for a morning walk with her daughter-in-law. Zaheer, who witnessed the crime, immediately took action by using his autorickshaw to stop the perpetrator. Despite facing a physical attack from Sohail, Zaheer fearlessly prevented his escape.
Zaheer’s selfless act of bravery did not go unnoticed, as patrolling police swiftly apprehended Sohail thanks to his intervention. The victim, impressed by Zaheer’s heroism, reported the incident to the police. Zaheer’s courageous actions were captured on CCTV, leading to his identification by the authorities.
Police Commissioner Sajjanar commended Zaheer as a role model for society, highlighting the importance of citizens like him in combating crime. He urged the public to emulate Zaheer’s bravery and promptly report criminal activities to the authorities. Meanwhile, Sohail, the chain snatcher, was arrested by the Goshamahal police, with a history of 16 criminal cases against him.
