Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu expressed satisfaction on Saturday with the positive outcomes of the ‘Matsya Saagaramala’ program, designed to illuminate the paths of fishermen venturing towards the coast in the darkness. The minister inaugurated this initiative in Erramukkom village, Sompeta Mandal.
In the Srikakulam Parliament constituency, 1,594 solar lights have been set up along the coastal roads using funds from Coal India’s CSR. These lights were ceremonially inaugurated by the minister, enhancing safety for fishermen and aiding navigation for boats during fishing activities.
The ‘Matsya Saagaramala’ solar lights not only ensure the safety of fishermen but also contribute to promoting tourism and guiding boats during fishing operations. Minister Naidu reassured the fishermen of the government’s unwavering support for their progress and well-being.
Minister Naidu also enjoyed a pleasant time at Yerramukam Beach, appreciating the natural beauty and serene beaches of Srikakulam. He invited everyone to explore the unexplored coastal paradise and indulge in the local Udhanam coconut to beat the summer heat.
The Sagarmala Programme, initiated by the Central government in March 2015, is a key project of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways aimed at transforming India’s maritime sector. With vast coastlines and navigable waterways, India has significant potential for port-led economic growth, and Sagarmala focuses on optimizing logistics, reducing costs, and enhancing international trade competitiveness through efficient coastal and waterway networks.
