The Awami League in Bangladesh has attributed the ongoing gas crisis in the country to the neglect of the critical public utility under the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government. The party emphasized that the crisis is not due to sudden shocks or supply issues but is a clear failure of governance and misrule under the Yunus regime.

According to the Awami League, the gas shortage is a result of administrative paralysis and a lack of leadership. While the previous Awami League government managed scarcity through LNG imports and subsidies, the current regime has failed to address the crisis effectively.

The party highlighted that the gas crisis has escalated into a systemic failure, with the Yunus administration failing to manage supply chains and ensure energy access. Despite existing infrastructure and import channels, the government has not taken concrete steps to address the issue.

Since assuming office in 2024, the Yunus-led government has not implemented any significant reforms in gas procurement or market regulation. The party criticized the administration for using the language of reform without taking concrete actions to stabilize the gas sector.
