The Ayushman Bharat scheme led by the Narendra Modi government is providing significant relief to the underprivileged residents of Chamoli, Uttarakhand. Digpal Singh, a beneficiary of the scheme, described it as a boon for the poor, with thousands in the district benefiting from free treatment worth up to Rs 5 lakh annually.
One notable impact is the improved healthcare accessibility for residents in remote and mountainous regions. Singh, currently receiving treatment at Gopeshwar district hospital, highlighted that his entire medical care, including tests and facilities, was covered at no cost due to his Ayushman card.
Previously, impoverished families faced challenges in accessing medical services, but the Ayushman scheme has emerged as a crucial support system for those in need. Another beneficiary, Bharat Ram, praised the scheme for providing him with ongoing treatment without any financial burden since his admission on April 11.
Ram commended the government for implementing such a beneficial program that offers relief to economically disadvantaged families. Official records indicate that Chamoli district has issued 2,36,108 Ayushman cards, benefiting 63,978 individuals who have availed treatment under the scheme, amounting to a total expenditure of Rs 1.01 lakh crore.
