Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana recently honored the late singing legend Asha Bhosle with a musical tribute. Khurrana shared a video on Instagram where he sang ‘Das Mereya Dilbara,’ a Punjabi song originally performed by Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi. Expressing his admiration, Khurrana mentioned that the song was one of his favorite lesser-known Punjabi gems by Asha Bhosle, whose legacy continues to inspire.
Asha Bhosle, a highly influential singer, began her playback singing career with the 1943 Marathi drama ‘Majha Bal.’ Known for iconic songs like ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’ and ‘O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan,’ she has sung in over 20 languages. Bhosle, who received accolades such as the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Padma Vibhushan, passed away on April 12, leading to a solemn farewell in Mumbai.
The final rites for Asha Bhosle saw a gathering of notable personalities from the film industry. Celebrities like Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and Tabu, along with music composer Anu Malik and singers Anup Jalota and Shaan, paid their respects at the Shivaji Park crematorium. Political figures, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and MNS supremo Raj Thackeray, also honored the legendary singer during her last rites.
