Babar Azam will no longer participate in the Big Bash League (BBL15) Finals Series as he is set to depart for Pakistan to prepare for upcoming international matches, announced the Sydney Sixers. Daniel Hughes will step in to replace Babar in the team and take on the role of an opener. The Sixers stated that Babar Azam has been called back to join Pakistan’s national camp in preparation for the upcoming international fixtures, making him unavailable for the remainder of the BBL 15 Finals Series.
Babar expressed his gratitude to the Sydney Sixers and their fans for the support he received during his time with the BBL club. In a video shared by the Sixers, he thanked the team, coaches, and fans for the enjoyable experience. Despite his departure, Babar mentioned that he cherished the positive experiences and support from the Sydney Sixers fans and the vibrant atmosphere at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Struggling with his form in the current season, Babar Azam managed to score only 202 runs in 11 games, raising concerns due to his low strike rate of 103.06. Meanwhile, Pakistan is gearing up for the T20 World Cup starting on February 7 with a match against the Netherlands. Prior to the tournament, Pakistan will engage in a three-match T20I series against Australia, beginning on January 29, to prepare for the prestigious event.
