Human rights activist Mahrang Baloch, associated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has refuted recent accusations made by Pakistani authorities as groundless. She emphasized that these claims are part of a deliberate effort to undermine the peaceful political movement in Balochistan. Mahrang, currently detained at Central Jail Huda in Quetta since March 2025, has faced global criticism over what activists deem as unjust and politically motivated charges against her.
Describing the BYC as a non-violent and peaceful platform advocating for public rights, Mahrang reiterated the organization’s commitment to fighting for the fundamental rights, justice, and dignity of the Balochistan people. She highlighted key demands, including an end to enforced disappearances, cessation of extrajudicial arrests, protection of freedom of expression, recognition of Balochi people’s rights over the region’s resources, and the fulfillment of constitutional and historical rights.
Mahrang expressed concern over the continuous harassment faced by Baloch political activists and human rights defenders at the hands of Pakistani forces. She accused state elements of orchestrating a smear campaign against BYC leaders through false allegations and propaganda, aiming to delegitimize their peaceful activism. The activist urged international human rights organizations, journalists, and advocacy groups to scrutinize the situation in Balochistan independently and uncover the truth behind the orchestrated narrative.
