Another Baloch civilian, Arslan Shahwani, was reportedly forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces in Quetta. Arslan, who worked at a bakery factory in the city, was taken from the airport road by the authorities on Saturday night. The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department expressed concern over the incident, emphasizing the need for his safety and disclosure of his whereabouts.
The rights organization condemned the act, highlighting that enforced disappearances are a severe violation of international human rights law. It urged Pakistani authorities to promptly reveal Arslan’s location, ensure his well-being, and adhere to international legal standards by either releasing him or presenting him before a court. The surge in enforced disappearances in Balochistan between January 7–9, 2026, involving eleven Baloch civilians, was also noted by the organization.
Paank raised alarm over the recent wave of disappearances, citing instances where individuals were taken by Pakistan’s security forces from various districts in Balochistan. The incidents, which occurred in Kech, Hub, and Khuzdar, included the forced disappearance of students, shopkeepers, and other civilians. The rights body emphasized the need for an independent investigation into the actions of the Pakistani Frontier Corps (FC) and Army, calling for urgent international attention to the human rights crisis in the region.
