Bukayo Saka expressed his pride in joining an elite group of England players by scoring a hat-trick in the World Cup. Saka’s achievement makes him only the third English player, after Gary Lineker and Harry Kane, to achieve this feat.
Scoring his hat-trick in a knockout stage match, Saka became the second English player to do so since Sir Geoff Hurst in the 1966 final. This accomplishment also places him as the fourth Englishman to score a hat-trick at the global finals, following Hurst in 1966, Lineker in 1986, and Kane in 2018.
Reflecting on his performance, Saka expressed his joy and pride, stating, “That was fantastic. It was enjoyable and an amazing achievement of course. I’ve just been told there’s only four players for England that scored World Cup hat-tricks, and you know who those players are as well. That is an elite list to be part of. It makes me very proud.”
England’s head coach, Thomas Tuchel, praised Saka’s hat-trick performance, emphasizing his key role in the team. Tuchel commended Saka’s contribution, highlighting his effectiveness on the field and acknowledging his well-deserved accomplishment.
Ending England’s journey at the tournament with a third-place finish, Saka acknowledged the team’s progress and resilience throughout the competition. Despite falling short against Argentina, Saka emphasized the team’s determination to learn from the experience and use it as motivation for future endeavors.
