Leading Baloch human rights defender Mir Yar Baloch criticized China for using Islamabad as a “diplomatic gun” against India after New Delhi suspended the Indus Waters Treaty due to a terror attack in Pahalgam by Pakistan-backed terrorists. Mir highlighted that Pakistan is seen as a temporary presence in Balochistan by the locals.
He mentioned that the people of Balochistan are determined to launch a global campaign exposing the alleged terrorism of Pakistan and China, countering the disinformation spread by Islamabad and Beijing regarding India’s treaty suspension. Mir emphasized that China and Pakistan’s presence in Balochistan is considered illegal, urging them to vacate the region immediately.
Mir accused China of supporting Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies with advanced technology, drones, and resources, leading to human rights abuses and economic exploitation in Balochistan. He argued that China’s investments in Balochistan are against the will of the Baloch people and highlighted the strategic importance of Balochistan’s sea routes for China’s energy needs.
Mir pointed out that if Balochistan becomes self-sufficient militarily and economically, China’s reliance on the region for energy supplies would diminish, affecting its access to the Gwadar port. He criticized Pakistan for distorting the realities in Balochistan through diplomatic means and media manipulation, asserting that Pakistan’s presence in the region is perceived as temporary by the Baloch people.
