The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has announced its first maritime operation in the Jiwani area of Gwadar district in Balochistan, claiming the killing of three Pakistani naval personnel. A video released by BLA’s media wing, Hakkal, depicted masked fighters boarding a speedboat and attacking a Pakistan Coast Guard boat at sea. The BLA spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, revealed the establishment of the group’s naval wing, the Hammal Maritime Defence Force (HMDF), aimed at safeguarding the Baloch seas.
The BLA’s naval wing targeted a patrolling boat of the Pakistani Navy in an armed assault on April 12, resulting in the immediate death of three navy personnel. Following the operation, the BLA fighters safely retreated to their hideouts. The BLA emphasized a shift in its operations from land to maritime domains, vowing to defend Baloch resources, disrupt enemy naval movements, and protect the occupied coasts through the HMDF.
Warning the Pakistani forces of expanded military capabilities, the BLA declared its readiness to target the enemy in deep seas, including naval installations. The group asserted its commitment to continue the conflict until the complete withdrawal of the enemy forces and the restoration of a free and sovereign Baloch state.
