The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has extended its influence in Balochistan’s Nushki district by seizing a Pakistani Army camp in the Ahmad Wal area, following an earlier takeover in the Galangur area. The BLA’s ‘Operation Herof’ has entered its fifth day, causing disruptions in internet services, train operations, and public events across the province. Reports from The Balochistan Post mention fresh explosions and gunfire near a Pakistani forces’ camp close to the Nushki bus terminal.
Residents reported hearing loud blasts and sustained gunfire in various parts of the city, heightening fears among civilians who are already confined to their homes. Allegations have surfaced that Pakistani forces are targeting civilian areas deliberately, raising concerns about potential civilian casualties. However, restrictions on movement and communication have made it challenging to independently verify these claims.
The BLA recently announced coordinated attacks under Operation Herof, targeting multiple locations simultaneously, including Quetta, Nushki, and at least 12 other cities in Balochistan. Despite official assurances of control, ground reports from Nushki suggest a different reality, as reported by The Balochistan Post. The BLA’s official media channel, Hakkal, released images and identities of two suicide attackers, along with a video showing a female fighter participating in attacks against Pakistani forces as part of Operation Herof.
In a statement, the BLA identified one of the suicide attackers as Siraj Baloch from the Buleda region in Kech district, emphasizing his long-term ideological commitment. Since the launch of Operation Herof’s second phase on January 31, the BLA has reportedly inflicted casualties on Pakistani army personnel. BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch described the new phase of Operation Herof as a “declaration of decisive resistance” aimed at challenging “the occupying state and all its military and administrative structures.”
