A Baloch student organization in Gwadar, Balochistan, expressed alarm after discovering a large number of curriculum books from the Balochistan Textbooks Board discarded as waste. These books, meant for the 2024-25 academic year, were found abandoned at the office of the District Education Officer in Gwadar. The Baloch Students Action Committee criticized the situation, highlighting a failure in the education system’s quality.
The group emphasized that the incident goes beyond mere book disposal, indicating a systemic issue within the education sector. They called for a thorough investigation into the matter, citing a need for higher authorities to address the apparent incompetence. Additionally, the Baloch Literary Campaign urged for transparency in handling such cases to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Meanwhile, a human rights organization shed light on the enforced disappearances of two Baloch individuals by Pakistani forces in Balochistan and Punjab. Razaq Baloch, a 26-year-old singer, was reportedly taken by the Frontier Corps from Quetta on April 27, with his whereabouts unknown since. The organization also condemned the disappearance of Dost Muhammad, a retired Pakistan Army member, taken into custody by the Counter Terrorism Department from Dera Ghazi Khan.
