Human rights activists from the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) held a sit-in at Huda jail in Quetta, Balochistan, denouncing what they called a “faceless trial” that they deemed unconstitutional and against principles of transparent justice. The protest, now in its third day, highlighted alleged strict restrictions imposed by Pakistani jail authorities, preventing relatives and lawyers from meeting the detained leaders.
The BYC expressed concerns that state institutions might pressure or harass the detained leaders, demanding respect for the legal and human rights of political prisoners. They called for an immediate halt to all illegal actions within the jail and an end to the faceless trial against their leaders, emphasizing the unjust treatment endured during their 14-month custody.
Leaders of the BYC, including chief organizer Mahrang Baloch, have been held at Central Jail Huda in Quetta since March 2025, drawing global condemnation for what human rights defenders claim are false and politically motivated charges. Additionally, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) voiced alarm over what they perceive as sham judicial proceedings aimed at punishing Mahrang Baloch and her associates through a fabricated legal process.
