The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made significant administrative decisions following its Ad-hoc Committee’s third meeting at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka. The Board has decided to dissolve the Ad-hoc Committees of the Regional Cricket Associations of Chattogram, Sylhet, and Barishal, signaling structural changes. This move aims to pave the way for a new administrative setup in these regions, aligning them better with the Board’s governance plans.
In preparation for the upcoming BCB Election, the Board has initiated the process by inviting nominations of Councillors from all categories as per the BCB Constitution’s Article 12.7. This step underscores the Board’s commitment to following constitutional guidelines and ensuring diverse representation within Bangladesh cricket. Additionally, the Board has approved the formation of a three-member Election Commission to oversee the election, with one member to be nominated by the Ministry of Youth & Sports or the National Sports Council (NSC) and two members nominated by the BCB.
The establishment of the Election Commission, including an external representative, is expected to enhance transparency and credibility in the election process. These decisions mark the beginning of the BCB’s efforts to restructure its administrative framework and facilitate a seamless and transparent transition leading up to the upcoming elections.
