Bangladesh’s young bowler Nahid Rana attributes his rapid progress in international cricket to the guidance of senior pacer Taskin Ahmed, whom he regards as an elder brother. Rana, emerging as a top fast-bowling talent for Bangladesh, recently clinched the Player of the Series award in the ODI series victory against New Zealand.
His stellar performance extended to Test cricket, where he contributed significantly by claiming five wickets in the opening Test against Pakistan, aiding Bangladesh in securing their first win in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. Despite his swift rise since his debut in 2024, Rana emphasizes the crucial role of Taskin’s support and advice in his development.
Rana expressed his admiration for Taskin, stating, “He always treats me with care like a younger brother. Whenever I make mistakes, he guides me a lot based on his experiences in life and cricket.” The duo’s effective partnership was evident in the second Test against Pakistan, where they collectively secured five wickets on the second day, propelling Bangladesh to a commanding position.
Taskin’s early breakthroughs and Rana’s pivotal dismissal of former Pakistan captain Babar Azam showcased the young bowler’s increasing significance in Bangladesh’s pace attack. Rana’s impressive performance, culminating in figures of 3/60 from 12.4 overs, underscores his growing impact on the team’s bowling lineup.
