The Bangladesh Cricket Board has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) for 48 hours to inform the government about their stance on participating in the upcoming T20 World Cup in India. This request comes after the ICC turned down Bangladesh’s appeal to move their matches from India due to lack of support during a recent virtual meeting.
Bangladesh has a 24-hour deadline from the ICC to confirm their participation in the T20 World Cup scheduled from February 7 to March 8 in India. Failure to do so may result in Scotland replacing Bangladesh in the tournament.
A BCB official expressed concerns about player safety in India and proposed relocating the matches to Sri Lanka, but faced obstacles due to Sri Lanka’s stance. The official mentioned ongoing discussions with the government and the need for additional time to convey feedback to the ICC.
