The Bankipur Assembly by-election heat rose as Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Rekha Gupta submitted her nomination papers, following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate. Supported by RJD leaders and Congress from the Mahagathbandhan, Gupta expressed confidence in the alliance’s performance.
Rekha Gupta, optimistic about the by-election, highlighted the strong challenge posed by the opposition alliance in the previous election. She entered the District Magistrate’s office for nomination through the rear entrance, emphasizing the support of the entire Mahagathbandhan.
Anticipating a political shift in Bankipur, Gupta believed the RJD would make history in the constituency. She acknowledged the public as the main challenge in winning their trust, emphasizing the importance of voter confidence in her campaign.
The Bankipur Assembly by-election, triggered by the election of former BJP MLA Nitin Nabin to the Rajya Sabha, features Abhishek Kumar Bunty from BJP and Rekha Gupta from RJD as key contenders. With Prashant Kishor also in the race, the multi-cornered contest has drawn significant attention in Bihar.
