Lok Sabha member and former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed concerns about the declining law and order situation in Haveri district. He criticized the Congress government, stating that criminals no longer fear the police or legal system. Bommai highlighted recent incidents of crime, including a murder in broad daylight and the Hangal gang-rape case.

Bommai accused the government of inaction despite rising crime rates in the district. He mentioned incidents related to “love jihad” and killings on the rise. The former Chief Minister also criticized the police for arresting activists and alleged corruption among local police personnel.

Addressing the state government’s handling of irrigation projects, Bommai claimed that the Irrigation Department had been inactive for three years. He criticized the lack of maintenance of existing projects and inefficiencies in utilizing water resources effectively. Bommai also raised concerns about delays in distributing crop insurance verification certificates to farmers.
