The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has raised the match fees for women’s domestic cricket matches. In the new structure, senior women players in 50-over and multi-day tournaments will now receive Rs 50,000 as the daily match fee for playing XI members and Rs 25,000 for reserves.
Similarly, for senior women’s T20 matches, the revised rates will be Rs 25,000 for playing XI members and Rs 12,500 for reserves. Domestic T20 match fees have also seen an increase, with playing XI members set to receive Rs 25,000 per match day in national T20 competitions, while reserves will get Rs 12,500.
The Apex Council has also decided to raise the fees for junior cricket players. Reserves in ODI games will now earn Rs 12,500, while players in the Under-23 and Under-19 categories will receive Rs 25,000. For T20 matches, the playing XI will get Rs 12,500, and reserves will receive Rs 6,250.
Match officials are not left out in the fee revisions, with umpires and match referees in domestic tournaments set to benefit significantly. Officials are expected to earn Rs 40,000 per day for league-stage matches, with match fees increasing during the knockout stages to between Rs 50,000 and Rs 60,000 per day, based on the game’s importance and stage within the competition.
The increase in match fees for domestic matches follows the Indian women’s cricket team’s victory in the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup. This move reflects the growing prominence of women’s cricket in India, especially with the success of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which has brought wealth to top players. The hike in fees aims to trickle down the benefits to domestic players, attracting new talents and aiding in talent identification and development at the grassroots level.
