The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressed sorrow over the demise of former Mizoram Ranji player K. Lalremruata, who collapsed and passed away during a local cricket match. Lalremruata, representing Venghnuai Raiders CC, collapsed during a Khaled Memorial 2nd Division Screening Tournament match. Despite immediate assistance and medical attention, he could not be saved. The Cricket Association of Mizoram (CAM) stated that Lalremruata had a stroke during the game, extending condolences to his family and highlighting the loss to Mizoram cricket.
After the tragic incident, Assam Cricket called off matches scheduled for the following day, rearranging the games under a revised timetable. This decision affected various tournaments, including the 2nd Division Screening Tournament at SCG, Sihhmui, the 3rd Division Screening Tournament semi-finals at Lawipu Playground, and the Samagra Inter-School Cricket Tournament at PUC Ground and MAP Ground in Mualpui. Lalremruata, a wicketkeeper, had a cricket career that saw him debut in First Class cricket against Meghalaya in 2018 and play his final match in 2022 versus Nagaland.
